Children dive into the world of subversive digital journeys at home with City of Melbourne’s ArtPlay
- Written by Diane Falzon
The City of Melbourne’s ArtPlay, a leading driver in nurturing bold art and innovative digital creative experiences for children and their families, has partnered with established Australian artist, Jessica Wilson to unveil Child Nation, a digital journey where you turn your people and places into art.
Jessica Wilson brings her highly acclaimed Child Nation project to the City of Melbourne, using technology as a vehicle for children to participate in playful interactions with their own places, at their own pace and with their own ideas.
Using a series of conversational digital prompts, children enter answers and move around their home, finding themselves in a humorous situation crafted with their own content. Ranging from 15 to 20 minutes, this month, Child Nation will be available in English and Korean, and the self-led journeys can be played at home anytime.
Child Nation is creative expression at children’s pace and scope. It is a holistic way to allow young people to submerge themselves in creative play and discover their own quirky personality along the way.
“It draws out children’s creativity at their own pace and in places they feel comfortable,” Jessica Wilson said.
